Use the Live Photo’s MOV component to recover a moment before or after the key still. The timeline shows the actual clip duration and lets you request a frame at a specific time, with PNG for lossless output or JPG for a smaller file.
When WebCodecs can access decoded samples, the selected presentation frame is used directly. The fallback relies on browser video seeking and is labeled because it can choose the closest frame rather than an exact sample.
The timeline comes from the motion file's measured duration and dimensions. Selecting a time requests a decoded video frame; it does not move the Apple key-photo marker or alter the original pair. The saved still is therefore a new image at video resolution, useful for timing even when it is smaller than the HEIC or JPEG key photo.

Does choosing a frame change the original Live Photo?
No. The selected time is used to create a separate still blob. Neither the MOV nor the paired key photo is rewritten.
Why is a Live Photo video frame softer than the key photo?
Apple stores the key still and motion track separately. The short movie is optimized for motion and normally has fewer pixels than the full-resolution photo.
Why was my file rejected even though the extension looks correct?
The contents may be empty, corrupt, too large, or a different format that was renamed. Re-export the original file from its source app and try again.
Does this work on phones?
Yes in current Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox where the required browser or WebAssembly feature is available. Large jobs may complete more reliably on a device with more memory.
